Recording and Consent
Last updated: 24 August 2026, 22:00 GST
1. Purpose
This guide is to help customers think through call recording when they configure Monarc Voice. Monarc Voice is in development. This page is guidance for customers, not a policy about Monarc, and it is not legal advice.
2. Recording Is a Choice
Recording can be enabled or disabled per account. Calls are not recorded unless the customer enables recording.
3. What Is Captured
When recording is on, the following may be captured on the customer's instructions:
- Call recordings
- Transcripts
- Call metadata (such as time and duration)
- Derived lead or booking records
When recording is off, audio is not retained as a recording. Transcripts, call metadata, and derived lead or booking records may still be captured on the customer's instructions.
4. Notice to Callers
A notice can be configured into the call flow. The customer decides its wording and placement.
5. Consent
Requirements differ by jurisdiction and by call type. The customer must confirm what applies to them with their own advisers. This guide does not state what any particular law requires.
6. Retention and Deletion
Retention of recordings, transcripts, metadata, and derived records is configurable per account. Callers who want their data removed should contact the business they called. Monarc will support that business in actioning the request.
7. Practical Checklist
Before going live, decide:
- Whether recording is on or off
- The wording and placement of any caller notice
- Whether transcripts, metadata, and lead records are captured
- How long each category is retained
- How a caller's request reaches the business
- What your own advisers say applies to your calls
8. Closing
This guide is not legal advice. Customers should obtain their own advice on recording, notice, and consent before going live.
